How Veriff’s robust fraud prevention measures can 25X growth
By implementing identity verification just weeks after launch, Scrambly built a trusted, fraud resistant platform that enabled it to scale user acquisition, protect advertiser budgets, and become the world’s fastest growing rewarded marketing platform.
About Scrambly
Scrambly is a rewarded user acquisition and ad tech platform that connects users with apps and games tailored to their preferences. By combining data-driven personalisation with cash rewards, Scrambly helps app publishers and game studios acquire high-intent users at scale while giving consumers a new way to discover and engage with digital products.
Founded by CEO Alexander Grankin and Co-Founder & CTO Illia Frantsevskyi, Scrambly was built to solve two core challenges in the rewarded marketing space: low-intent users motivated only by rewards, and widespread fraud from users attempting to exploit payout systems. Today, the platform works with some of the biggest publicly traded gaming companies and continues to expand across mobile and web ecosystems.
We wanted to create a bridge between users and apps that was driven by real user intent and protected from the fraud that usually comes with cash rewards.

What business problem did Veriff solve for Scrambly?
From its earliest days, Scrambly’s business model made it an attractive target for fraud. As a platform offering real cash rewards, it quickly saw large volumes of bad actors attempting to create duplicate accounts, spoof locations, and exploit incentive mechanics to cash out without delivering value to advertisers.
Within weeks of launching, Scrambly experienced a surge in installs that initially appeared to signal viral growth. A deeper analysis revealed that many of these users were not genuine and were using VPNs and residential proxies to bypass location restrictions and automate reward completion.
“We thought the platform had gone viral. Then we realised those users were completing tasks in minutes and cashing out immediately,” Grankin said. “It was clear we were being targeted by organised fraud.”
Without a reliable way to verify real users, Scrambly risked losing advertiser trust and damaging its reputation in the market before it had even fully launched. The company needed a scalable, automated identity verification solution that could eliminate fraudulent accounts while maintaining a smooth user experience.
Veriff enabled Scrambly to verify that users were real people located in supported markets, cutting off fraudulent activity at the source and allowing the company to continue operating with confidence.
Implementing identity verification saved our company. Without it, the fraud would have scaled and we would not have survived those early weeks.

What made the difference to Scrambly when choosing Veriff?
As a bootstrapped startup with limited resources, Scrambly needed a partner that could offer enterprise-grade fraud prevention without the complexity and cost that often come with it. Veriff stood out for its ease of integration, strong documentation, and willingness to support an early-stage company.
Grankin and his team evaluated multiple providers but found that many were focused on large financial institutions and were not flexible enough to meet the needs of a young startup.
“We were a small team with no funding, so we needed something we could implement quickly and test ourselves,” he said. “Veriff’s documentation and integration experience made that possible.”
Scrambly also valued Veriff’s collaborative approach and its ability to grow alongside the company. As fraud patterns evolved, Veriff continuously updated its models and worked closely with Scrambly to adapt to new threats.
Fraudsters are always looking for new loopholes. What mattered to us was that Veriff kept evolving and helped us stay one step ahead.

What was the impact of implementing Veriff?
Introducing identity verification early allowed Scrambly to build a platform where advertisers could trust the quality of the users they were paying for. This trust became a key differentiator in a market where rewarded platforms are often associated with low-quality or fraudulent traffic.
By verifying users and carefully placing verification at the right moment in the user journey, Scrambly was able to balance fraud prevention with conversion rates. The company ran extensive testing to reduce friction while clearly communicating to users why verification was necessary and how their data would be protected.
“It was all about putting verification at the right point in the journey and explaining to users why it mattered,” Grankin explained. “Once they understood it was there to protect them and the platform, completion rates improved.”
As a result, Scrambly built a reputation among app publishers and gaming companies as a network that delivers high-quality, fraud-free users. This reputation has helped the company win and retain partnerships with some of the biggest publicly traded gaming companies. In 2025, just 3.5 years after launch, Scrambly was ranked by the AppsFlyer Performance Index as one of the leading ad networks for gaming companies.
Today, Scrambly is one of the fastest-growing companies in its category and has scaled its revenue, traffic, and user base by more than 25 times since its early stages. Veriff has remained a core component of the platform’s multi-layer fraud prevention strategy throughout that journey and has helped Scrambly build a reputation built on customer trust.
“We are known for being fraud-prevention first,” Grankin said. “That reputation is one of the reasons clients choose to work with us.”
The partnership has also enabled Scrambly to avoid the cost and complexity of building an in-house identity verification system, allowing the company to focus on product innovation and user experience instead.
If we had tried to build identity verification ourselves, it would have required a huge team and massive overhead. Partnering with Veriff allowed us to scale much faster.
