Veriff Achieves UK Government Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework Certification

Veriff has achieved gamma (0.4) certification under the UK government’s Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework (UKDIATF), marking an important milestone in the UK’s digital identity landscape.

We’re proud to announce that Veriff has achieved gamma (0.4) certification under the UK government’s Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework (UKDIATF), which was released for certification on 26 June 2025. This represents a key milestone in the UK’s digital identity transformation.

UKDIATF is the government standard for conducting remote identity checks to establish a secure, trustworthy digital identity ecosystem across the UK. It requires organizations to conduct secure, trustworthy identity and attribute checks to ensure safe and fair digital identity verifications. With this certification, Veriff customers can verify the identities of UK-based users with greater confidence while complying with UK government-approved rules.

About UK Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework (UKDIATF)

UKDIATF provides guidance and requirements for identity and authentication service providers to ensure they meet technical and security standards and adhere to principles for protecting users’ privacy and data. The Home Office in the UK recommends companies use certified identity service providers (IDSPs) that meet the trust framework standards for Right to Work (RTW) and Right to Rent (RTR).

Scope of UKDIATF

UKDIATF ensures that companies in this digital identity ecosystem, such as Veriff, are held accountable and consistently meet high security standards under strict governance, while improving the efficiency and user experience of remote identity verification (IDV) and reducing the risk of fraud for businesses.

Why this certification matters

This certification provides our global customers with additional assurance that our internal processes adhere to generally accepted best practices. Even though UKDIATF is specifically designed for the UK market, certification requirements such as data privacy, risk management, and others are in line with global industry standards.

Overview of the verification process

The verification journey for UK users is designed to be both simple and robust. Individuals applying to work or rent in the UK must complete a Right to Work or Right to Rent check.

During the process, users capture a photo of their ID and a selfie, which Veriff uses to verify identity and confirm document authenticity. Depending on the customer’s selected profile, Veriff may also perform additional checks, including screening against the CIFAS database, credit history, the electoral roll, and the Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) registry. If all checks are successful, the verification session is approved.
